Three Ways to Perfect Social Media Marketing in Motorsport - Racing Drivers

social media marketing motorsport

Have you ever wondered how some people in motorsport seem to know how to do social media marketing so well? Or why some racing drivers know just the right thing to post all the time on Instagram or Twitter?

What are the social media marketing tools that they use to enable them to get thousands of likes on their posts and get sponsored by the biggest brands?

It can sometimes look like witchcraft, but the truth is far less mysterious. Read on for our top three tips.

1. Consistency

Posting consistently is one of the most important factors in perfecting your social media as a racing driver.

If people know what to expect by following you, they will come back for more, which increases your engagement and the likelihood of them recommending friends to follow you in turn.

Look at your social media feeds, are they consistent? Or are there ten posts about your racing, followed by a photo of your boring commute to the track, moaning about the traffic? Keep it consistent, and the fans will follow.

2. Quality

You know what they say: quality over quantity. And in social media, this couldn't be more true.

Posting every five minutes on Instagram or Facebook will bombard peoples' feeds, and they will quickly tire of your posts, either ignoring them or unfollowing you entirely. Of course, posting regularly on Twitter is part of the point of the network: it's more conversational.

But think about what you post, before you post it. Is it good enough quality, either the photo or the words? Is it important enough to post?

3. Time

Post at 3am in your most popular timezone and guess what? Nobody will see it.

Post around midday and see what the difference is: more engagement? Some of this is trial and error, working out where the majority of your followers are based, and posting accordingly.

Try it out: across a few days, post four similar posts (e.g. an action photo, or a photo of you) at 9am, midday, 3pm and 6pm. See what gets more interaction, and try to post mostly around that time.

There are a lot of things that make a huge difference to how many followers you can get on social media, how much they engage with you and how you can make your social media a key part of your appeal to fans, brands and potential sponsors.
